Assoicate Dean for Services --  Texas A&M University at College Station --
Texas
 

Library&#58; Texas A&M University Libraries seeks an energetic,
enthusiastic, and knowledgeable colleague to join a user-centered
leadership team, charting the course for responsive services to the
students and faculty of one of the most dynamic universities in the
country.  The position provides wide scope for leadership in shaping a
vision for positive change and in developing and integrating both public
and technical services functions to improve the effectiveness of the
library for its users.  This is a tenure-track faculty position with
responsibilities for research and professional service.
Responsibilities&#58;  In a user-centered library leadership team, under
the general direction of the Dean, serves as a member of the senior
library administration in creating and communicating a vision, setting
priorities, and developing strategies.  Participates as a member of the
Dean's Cabinet in library planning, development and innovation.  Provides
administrative leadership for public and technical services functions,
including reference, instruction, liaison, acquisitions, and cataloging in
the main library and two branches serving business and policy
sciences&#47;economics. Required qualifications&#58; ALA accredited
Master's; A user-centered professional philosophy; Minimum of five years'
of increasingly responsible administrative experience in academic
libraries; substantial project management experience; Understanding of
library services and operations, assessment, knowledge of best practices
and current trends; Comfort with ambiguity and diversity in a changing
information landscape; Exceptional interpersonal skills and excellent oral
and written communications ability; Analytical and problem solving ability.
Desired qualifications&#58; Advanced subject degree; Experience in a
research extensive university environment; Strong scholarly and service
record. Enviroment&#58; Founded in 1876, Texas A&M University has an
enrollment of over 45,000 students making it the seventh largest
university in the nation. Texas A&M University Libraries is a member of
Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and is the University's principal
research and information center, providing 3.9 million volumes, 5.6
million microforms, 49,800 print and electronic serial titles, more than
300,000 electronic books, and over 600 databases. The University Libraries
rank 18th among ARL libraries in materials expenditures with an acquisition
budget of $14.5m. There is a total staff of 261 including 78 librarians
with faculty status. Librarians work in a sophisticated online environment
utilizing Voyager, SFX, Metalib, and a full range of automated information
retrieval services. The Information and Collection Services Division
comprises 57 library faculty and 60 professional and support staff,
providing the broad range of public services and technical support
services to the university community. The Texas A&M University Libraries
comprises five physical facilities the Evans (main) library, the Cushing
Memorial Library and Archives, the Medical Sciences Library, the West
Campus Library (business), and the Policy Sciences and Economics Library.
Salary&#47;Benefits&#47;Rank&#58; Faculty rank and salary is commensurate
with qualifications and experience; salary is not less than $100,000.
