Library Positions --  Radford University -- Virginia
 
RADFORD UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
ARCHIVIST. Responsible for planning, organizing, preserving, managing, and
evaluating all aspects of the University Archives and regional special
collections. Identifies, acquires, processes and makes accessible
university archives, regional special collections, manuscripts, books and
materials in other formats relating to the mission of the university;
provides specialized reference/research services; and promotes use of the
collections. Participates in collection development. Twelve-month
non-tenured professional faculty position, which includes supervision of
staff, and responsibilities for university service and professional
contributions. Required: ALA-accredited Masters in Library/Information
Science. Thorough knowledge of archival theories, practices, and
procedures, standard print and electronic reference sources. Excellent
interpersonal skills. Superior oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Web authoring programs. Self-motivation. Superior
organization skills. Familiarity with integrated library systems and new
information technologies. Adaptability to change.ACQUISITIONS AND
ELECTRONIC RESOURCES MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN. Responsible for managing
acquisitions and electronic resources management. Handles license
agreements, vendor contracts, materials budget estimates, monitoring
expenditures, and fiscal closing. Manages the ILS ERMS and the Serials
Solutions A-Z list. Participates in collection development. Collaborates
with the other Technical Services librarians to provide departmental
leadership. Twelve-month non-tenured professional faculty position, which
includes supervision of staff, and responsibilities for university service
and professional contributions. Required: ALA-accredited Master's in
Library/Information Science. Ability to understand the technical aspects
of acquiring and maintaining electronic resources. Strong interpersonal
and communication skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills.
High level of initiative. Preferred: Experience or education in
acquisitions and/or serials. Supervisory experience. Familiarity with
cataloging.ELECTRONIC RESOURCES SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN. Manage technical
aspects of electronic information resources including e-serials
management, XML and metadata encoding, authentication, and related
technical issues. Responsible for assisting in managing comprehensive
content-linking/resolution service technologies at the article level.
Twelve month non-tenured professional faculty position with
responsibilities for university service and professional
development/contribution. Required: ALA-accredited Masters in
Library/Information Science. Knowledge of technical and administrative
issues associated with electronic resources. Knowledge and understanding
of electronic publishing; demonstrated ability to manage technical
projects in a library setting; demonstrated commitment to customer service
and collaborative approaches; ability to work independently, managing a
complex workload in an on-time, effective manner with minimum supervision;
strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to
work well as part of a team. Preferred: Familiarity with electronic
standards such as OpenURL and DOI and electronic resource related
initiatives such as SUSHI, COUNTER, License Expression, etc. Knowledge of
computer networks, library automation systems, server management, UNIX,
XP/Vista, Win200X, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and a variety of office and
internet applications. Strong evidence of interest and ability in applying
innovative technologies to enhance library services. 2 to 3 years'
experience in some aspect of electronic resource management including:
experience with SFX and/or SerialsSolutions; Innovative Interfaces ERM,
HTML and Web editing tools (e.g., Dreamweaver); developing / maintaining
e-resource management tools. Demonstrated experience using database
management programs (e.g., Microsoft Access); knowledge of trends in
resource connectivity (e.g., XML, COUNTER, SUSHI). Experience with reports
tools such as MS Access or SQL. Letters of application, résumés, unofficial
