--- Happy Februrary! On Feb. 3-5, Phi Eta Sigma will be collecting cash donations in the UC outside Rocky Top Cafe to support Go Red For Women, sponsored by the American Heart Association to bring awareness about heart disease to women. With each donation, you will get a treat and for each $5 donated you will get a pin.

--- Dream of starting your own business? Learn more at Vol Court 2010, a series of free how-to seminars led by experts from across the state. The one-hour seminars will be held on Tuesdays, beginning on Feb. 9. Some of the sessions will be held at the UT Research Foundation Technology Business Center, 2450 E.J. --- Down Under campus tournaments begin this week. Winners receive free entry into the ACUI Region 5 tournament in February that will include schools from Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Come help UT win it all! --- Brown Bag, Green Book lunch with Maude Barlow, noon - 1 p.m. tomorrow in the East Tennessee History Center's auditorium, 601 S. Gay St. This discussion of Barlow's book, "Blue Covenant: The Global Water Crisis and the Coming Battle for the Right to Water," is part of a Baker Center series on national and regional water issues. Barlow also will lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the Baker Center auditorium. Both events are free and open to the public. For more info call 974-0931.

--- The Parents Association will be hosting an online chat for parents and students with the Programs Abroad Office to provide information about opportunities to study abroad. The online chat will take place at 6 p.m. tomorrow. Parents and students may access the chat from the News & Announcements section of the Undergraduate Admissions Web page at http://admissions.utk.edu. This chat will give parents and students a great opportunity to learn more about studying, traveling, or interning abroad.

--- Screening of the documentary, "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin," 6 p.m. tomorrow in 213 Hodges Library. Do you know who planned the 1963 March on Washington? Find out in this documentary about Bayard Rustin, a leader in the civil rights movement who was an openly gay African American man. During his 60-year career as an activist, organizer and "troublemaker," Rustin formulated many of the strategies that propelled the American civil rights movement. --- A. Scott Pearson, author and UT alumnus, will be the featured speaker at an event sponsored by the UT Office of Alumni Affairs and the Alumni Association Knox County Chapter. The event will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in Hodges Library Auditorium. Pearson will discuss his first novel, "Rupture," a medical thriller set in Memphis. A book signing will take place after the event, and Pearson's book will be on sale. The meeting is free and open to the public.

--- Tickets are now on sale for All-Sing 2010. The theme is "Tik-Tok on the Clock." All-Sing is a group singing competition among registered student organizations and is the third in a series of four events sponsored my All Campus Events. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, and Friday, Feb. 5, in the Alumni Memorial Building's Cox Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office in the University Center.

--- This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Phoenix, UT's literary arts magazine. Submissions are now being accepted of critique and poetry on the central issues of our time. All contributors note: published work will join a retrospective of student creativity at the University of Tennessee. For more information, go to phoenix.utk.edu/submission-info.

--- Interested in performing arts or learning about the entertainment industry? Want to bring culturally relevant people to campus? Apply to the Cultural Attractions Committee. Applications can be found at http://cpc.utk.edu/Committees/cac/ or on the bulletin board in the Student Activities Office (305 UC). Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Feb. 5, printed in the Student Activities Office or sent electronically to [log in to unmask] The committee will then contact the applicant about an interview if desired.

--- Engineering students: Do you take pride in the engineering program at UT and want to share your interest with others? The College of Engineering is now accepting applications for their Ambassadors program for the 2010-2011 school year. Ambassadors work to recruit prospective students and stimulate community interest in engineering-related activities by participating in recruiting events, public relations with alumni and faculty, and academic programs. Students selected as ambassadors will have excellent opportunities to further develop personal, social, communication and leadership skills and will be rewarded a scholarship for their service. Important Deadlines

--- Parents Association Offers Student Scholarships: It's time students to begin applying for the Parents Association International Scholarship. This scholarship provides financial assistance specifically to students of UT Parents Association members who seek to study, intern, or volunteer abroad. The application period for these scholarships is February 1 through February 25, 2010. Students must complete and submit their online application AND submit a transcript/academic history to the Parents Association Office at 412 Student Services Building no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 25. Students can visit http://parents.utk.edu for more information and to access the online application. The Parents Association Academic, Leadership, and Service Scholarship Applications will be available in April.

--- The SGA Election Commission will be holding two interest meetings for people who would like to get involved in SGA. The meetings are at 8 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday, Feb. 4, in the UC Shiloh Room. Questions? E-mail [log in to unmask]

--- The SGA New Student Relations Committee is partnering with Career Services to present the "Student Organization Interview Workshop." The workshop will help prepare students for upcoming spring recruitment interviews with various organizations. The event will be Feb. 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in University Center Rooms 226 and 227. The event will include two mock interview sessions and a workshop. The event times will be: Mock Interview Session 1 - 1:15 to 2 p.m., Workshop - 2:15 to 3 p.m. and Mock Interview Session 2 - 3:15 to 4 p.m. Students who are interested are encouraged to RSVP to [log in to unmask]
