Full-Time, Tenure-track Faculty Positions, Fall 2008 --  Delaware County
Community College -- Pennsylvania
 

Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution
committed to diversity, highly values faculty who are learning-centered,
skilled in instructional design, employ classroom assessment techniques,
and value the use of information technology. The College is located in
suburban Philadelphia and serves over 10,000 students with a comprehensive
array of programs, including computer-based and distance-learning classes.
The following full-time, tenure-track faculty positions are available for
Fall 2008. A minimum starting salary of $49,419 and a comprehensive and
competitive fringe benefits package are provided. The College strongly

FULL-TIME, TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONSFALL 2008Assistant Professor,
Allied Health
Certified Medical Assistant with a Master's degree in a health related
field. Minimum three years teaching experience in a medical assistant
program, and previous experience as a director of a CAAHEP accredited
medical assistant program are required. The applicant should be an
excellent instructor more committed to teaching than to research, who is
familiar with curriculum development, competency-based education,
alternative learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance
learning. In addition, the applicant should be willing to take part in
active service to the department, the division, and the college, and must
be committed to academic excellence, diversity, and a spirit of
collaboration.
Assistant Professor, Biology
Master's degree or Doctorate in one of the Biological Sciences, to include
coursework related to human anatomy and physiology, and college-level
teaching experience preferably including human anatomy and physiology.
Seeking applicants with both a strong background and the desire to teach
established Human Anatomy and Physiology courses, as well as general
Biology courses. The applicant should be an excellent instructor more
committed to teaching than to research, who is familiar with curriculum
development, competency-based education, alternative learning styles,
classroom technologies, and distance learning. In addition, the applicant
should be willing to take part in active service to the department, the
division, and the college, and must be committed to academic excellence,
diversity, and a spirit of collaboration.
Assistant Professor, Communications
Master's degree in Communication Studies (Speech Communication,
Communication Arts, or other relevant graduate degrees within the study of
human communication) and college-level teaching experience in the field.
Requires teaching all aspects of the Communication Studies curriculum,
which may include Interpersonal Communication, Small Group Communication,
Public Speaking, and Introduction to Mass Communication.
Assistant Professor, Early Childhood Education
Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related Master's degree
with 18 graduate semester hours in Early Childhood Education. Must have at
least three years of in-field work experience and (3) years of college
level teaching experience. Must be able to teach both theory and practical
applications of early childcare and education principles in certificate,
diploma, and degree level classes designed to prepare students for career
fields such as early childcare or education paraprofessional. Good written
and oral communications as well as computer skills are required for this
position. Related responsibilities include ordering and maintaining
supplies and equipment, working collaboratively with the Coordinator, and
maintaining program documentation and reports required by Government
grants.
Assistant Professor, English (2 positions)
Master's degree in English (Rhetoric and Composition preferred) plus
college-level teaching experience. Commitment to teaching a diverse
student population in a learner-centered environment that supports
interactive and collaborative instruction, the assessment of learning
outcomes, and the application of appropriate instructional technology to
meet the needs of learners. Experience with on-line learning a plus.
Position requires teaching developmental and college-level writing and
literature courses at one or more locations in Delaware County.
Assignments may include teaching at night.
Assistant Professor, ESL
Master's degree in the following fields: Bicultural/Bilingual Studies;
Linguistics (with ESL/TESOL); or TESOL; and college-level ESL teaching
experience. Requires teaching all aspects of the ESL curriculum at any of
our campuses, as necessary.
Assistant Professor, Electronic Technologies
Electronic Technologies instructor for courses in Industrial/Commercial
Electricity, DC Analysis, AC Analysis, Digital Electronics and/or
Mechanical Systems. Classes consist of both lecture (theory) and lab
(practical applications) at the technician and technologist level. The
successful candidate will be required to complete program and course
assessments on a periodic basis to assure the content meets or exceeds
industry standards. Master's degree in the field and five years of related
teaching experience required.
Assistant Professor, French/Spanish
Master's degree in Spanish or French with college-level teaching
experience. Italian or German a plus. Majority of teaching load will be in
Spanish.
Assistant Professor, Mathematics
Master's degree or Doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a
mathematics related field, and college level teaching experience,
preferably with business administration and/or computer information
systems students. Seeking applicants with a strong desire and demonstrated
ability to teach Finite Mathematics (see course description for MAT 130 at
www.dccc.edu). Although a background that will enable the applicant to
teach all levels of mathematics is required, the typical teaching schedule
will encompass courses from Basic Mathematics through Precalculus, with an
emphasis on Finite Mathematics. The applicant must be an excellent
instructor more committed to teaching than to research, and should be
familiar with curriculum development, competency-based education,
alternative learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance
learning. In addition, the applicant should be willing to take part in
active service to the department, the division, and the college, and must
be committed to academic excellence, diversity, and a spirit of
collaboration.
Reference Librarian
This position will primarily serve the satellite campuses and distance
learning, and travel between campuses as is required. General duties
include providing reference services, in accordance to scheduling needs,
participating in instruction of Information Literacy skills, supporting
classroom library needs, and promoting library services to satellite
campuses. Some collection development. Master's degree in Library Science
from an ALA accredited school is required; minimum of two years recent
experience in an academic library preferred; ability to work well with a
diverse community; strong knowledge of technology; ability to work
independently; service-oriented, positive attitude; good communications
and interpersonal skills; and the ability to assist patrons in individual
or group settings. Valid driver's license and car are required.Application
