POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor -- Information Literacy Librarian
LOCATION: Saint Martin's University (Lacey, Washington)

Saint Martin's University invites applications for a full-time,
year-round, tenure track faculty position to coordinate and build
O'Grady Library's instruction and reference programs. Recent graduates
are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be a promising
instructor and librarian with enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment
to continued professional growth. This position reports to the O'Grady
Library Director.
Saint Martin's is a Catholic university in the Benedictine tradition.
The university offers twenty-one majors and graduate programs in
business, counseling, education, and engineering. Located just outside
Olympia, Washington, the small, but growing University shares a 280 acre
wooded campus with Saint Martin's Abbey. In addition to the residential
campus, the university provides courses online and through extension
programs at Fort Lewis, McChord Air Force Base, and several Washington
community colleges.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and provides leadership in developing, assessing, and
promoting the library's information literacy and reference programs;
designs and teaches course-integrated instruction sessions and other
workshops for students, faculty, and staff in face-to-face and online
settings; develops web-based instructional materials; provides
traditional and online reference services to students, faculty, and
other patrons through scheduled reference hours (including some evening
and weekend shifts), individual consultations, and other appropriate
means; serves as a liaison librarian to selected academic departments,
with responsibility for collection development, instruction in
upper-level courses, and in-depth research assistance; coordinates the
assessment and development of the reference collection; develops and
coordinates on-going training for librarians, staff, and student
employees assigned to the Information Commons; participates in
University and library governance and planning, professional
organizations, and library consortia.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA-accredited master's; knowledge of current practices in reference and
information literacy; skills and knowledge needed to lead the
development of an information literacy and assessment plan; broad
knowledge of electronic and print research resources and the ability to
use these effectively; ability to work collaboratively and effectively
with all members of the library and university community; strong
technology skills, including the ability to use office applications
(Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook). Prefer second master's in a
discipline taught at Saint Martin's; experience providing reference and
instruction in an academic library; experience or knowledge of
instructional technologies and an understanding of how technology can be
used to enhance teaching and learning. Candidates must be supportive of
a Catholic Benedictine philosophy of education.
COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, starting $42,400.
