POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor -- Electronic Services Librarian
LOCATION: Saint Martin's University (Lacey, Washington)

Saint Martin's University invites applications for a full-time,
year-round, tenure track faculty position to coordinate and enhance
O'Grady Library's electronic resources and services to maximize their
integration in teaching and learning at the university. Recent
graduates are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be a
promising teacher and librarian committed to continued professional
growth. This position reports to the O'Grady Library Director.
Saint Martin's is a Catholic university in the Benedictine tradition.
The university offers twenty-one majors and graduate programs in
business, counseling, education, and engineering. Located just outside
Olympia, Washington, the small, but growing University shares a 280 acre
wooded campus with Saint Martin's Abbey. In addition to the residential
campus, the university provides courses online and through extension
programs at Fort Lewis, McChord Air Force Base, and several Washington
community colleges.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates the acquisition, implementation, administration, and support
of electronic journals, research databases, multimedia resources, and
other information technologies; manages the library's website,
maximizing access to information resources and overseeing the design and
development of online instructional resources; monitors emerging
technologies and practices in the field, recommending new services and
coordinating their implementation; coordinates training and support for
faculty, staff, and students in the use of the library's electronic
resources, multimedia tools, and other library technologies; coordinates
and participates in the maintenance and troubleshooting of library
technologies, including Innovative Millennium clients, the web catalog,
ILLiad clients, Ariel, EZProxy, electronic reserves, and QuestionPoint;
develops and maintains written policies, procedures, and support
documentation related to electronic services and library technologies.
Participates in the library's instruction program, developing and
teaching course-integrated sessions in face-to-face and online settings;
provides traditional and online reference services to students, faculty,
and other patrons through scheduled reference hours (including some
evening and weekend shifts), individual consultations, and other
appropriate means; serves as a liaison librarian to selected academic
departments, with responsibility for collection development, instruction
in upper-level courses, and in-depth research assistance; participates
in University and library governance and planning, professional
organizations, and library consortia.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires ALA-accredited master's; knowledge of current issues in
acquiring, licensing, and managing electronic resources; skill in
coordinating projects and following through on the details needed for
successful implementation; ability to work collaboratively and
effectively with all members of the library and university community;
excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills;
experience developing or maintaining a website with Microsoft Front Page
or another authoring tool and a thorough understanding of HTML and CSS;
ability to provide routine installation and troubleshooting for
hardware, software, and audiovisual equipment. Prefer second master's in
a discipline taught at Saint Martin's; experience with electronic
resource acquisitions or licensing; experience with course management
systems or other instructional technologies. Candidates must be
supportive of a Catholic Benedictine philosophy of education.
COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, starting $42,400.
