Folks -- The East Tennessee Chapter of the Society of Professional
Journalists has a terrific meeting coming up that I think you'll be
interested in.
The subject is "The Media on Trial," and it's a panel discussion
of the national media's recent efforts to report high-profile stories
such as the White House sex scandal, the conflict in Iraq and the Oprah
Winfrey/beef industry lawsuit. On the panel are Hallerin Hill, News
Talk 99 host; Richard Hollow, an attorney involved in media issues; and
Edgar Miller, editor of the East Tennessee Catholic Newspaper.
Moderator is Dan Ping, editor of the Farragut Press Enterprise.
The meeting is Wedensday, March 11, at Ramsey's Cafeteria at
1547 White Avenue, near the UTK campus. Parking is plentiful, and
you're welcome to go through the serving line for dinner or dessert or
