I am recruiting two masters students to start next fall on a project related to SLR planning in two communities on Humboldt Bay in Northern California. I would appreciate it if you could share this within your networks.
I am excited to announce that I will be seeking applicants for two fully-funded Masters degree positions in the Environmental Science and Management graduate program at Cal Poly Humboldt. The students will be part of Dr. Laurie
Richmond's research lab which focuses on marine, coastal, and community resilience. Selected students will have the opportunity to participate in a ground-breaking study related to coastal resilience focused on the experiences of low-income
communities on the frontline of climate change.
These students will work on a project titled: Coastal Resilience Planning for Frontline Communities on Humboldt Bay, CA. Students will be part of a collaborative team that includes representatives from Humboldt County, Cal Poly Humboldt,
and a coastal risk assessment consulting firm. The goal of the project is to engage two Humboldt Bay communities (King Salmon and Fields Landing) in flood and sea-level rise planning processes that contribute to the development of feasible, community-supported
adaptation strategies. Students will support social science data collection and community and Tribal engagement efforts of the project.
