Please see below the calls for applications for the Gleaves Scholarship, the TNLA Conference Internship Program, and the annual selection of TNLA Awards opportunities.

The deadline for each of these items is November 17, 2023. Application forms are attached.

The TNLA Dr. Edwin S. Gleaves Scholarship:
The Gleaves Scholarship, established in 2004, offers $1,500 annually to assist library and/or information science students with educational expenses such as tuition, books, or technology. The application is attached to this email.

To be eligible for the Dr. Edwin S. Gleaves Scholarship, applicants must:

  *   Be a current member of the Tennessee Library Association
  *   Be a Tennessee resident
  *   Hold an undergraduate degree
  *   Be accepted or currently enrolled in a library or information science graduate program (Master's Level) which has ALA or NCATE, TEAC, or CAEP accreditation

TNLA's Conference Internship Program:
This year, the Tennessee Library Association will select interns to assist with TNLA's annual conference to be held in Franklin, TN on April 2-4, 2024.

The Conference Internship Program (CIP) provides a wonderful opportunity to network with colleagues, develop professional contacts and experience the TNLA annual conference. Conference interns complete four hours of work at the conference as assigned by the TNLA Honors, Awards, and Scholarship Committee.

In exchange for the four hours of work, the interns receive approximately $150.00 in:

  *   Waived registration fees for the TNLA annual conference
  *   One free ticket to the All-Conference Reception
  *   A $100 stipend to be used as desired to defray costs of attending the conference
  *   Formal recognition at the conference

Applicants for the TNLA Conference Internship Program:

  *   Must be a member of the Tennessee Library Association
  *   Must be a student in a library and/or information science program

The following TNLA Awards are available:

  *   TNLA Honor Award: Recognizes any person or group who has made a significant contribution to the furtherance of librarianship on a statewide or national level.
  *   Frances Neel Cheney Award: Recognizes a significant contribution to the world of books and librarianship through the encouragement of the love of books and reading.
  *   Friend of the Year Award: Recognizes an outstanding member or group of individuals of a Friends of the Library group for exceptional leadership and/or achievements.

  *   TNLA Library Support Staff Award: Recognizes an outstanding performance by a Library Support Staff Member.
  *   TNLA Trustee Award: Recognizes a trustee who has made a significant contribution to library and information services in the State of Tennessee.
  *   TNLA Honorary Membership Award: Recognizes an individual who has made significant, sustained contributions to librarianship in the state of Tennessee. The award is for an individual per se, not an individual representing the accomplishments of many.
  *   TNLA Making a Difference Award: Recognizes an individual or group of individual in the state of Tennessee for outstanding contributions and continued support of a specific program and/or services that are instrumental in the growth or improvement of literacy, awareness and/or information delivery to the community or libraries.
