Hi everyone,

Many geography departments have Supporting Women in Geography (SWIG) chapters to support and empower women students, faculty, and staff in work, classrooms, and research. There is a long history of SWIG in the Southeastern Division of the AAG as described in the article attached from Southeastern Geographer.

We (Nikki Luke, even while on leave, and I) are reviving our own version, SWANG, Supporting Women and Non-Binary Geographers, which was first launched in our department back in January 2023. We would like to offer space for a casual meeting following the short break next week to be in community and ascertain how this space can best support undergraduate and graduate students in particular and all women, genderfluid, transgender, and non-binary geographers. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Please fill out the Google Form here<https://forms.gle/e9FZVkqboF6Q4Vm57> to add your contact info for the email list and to vote on the first gathering (emphasis on casual) before we break for winter. Your response is requested by the end of day of Tuesday, November 21 (which will help us plan properly).

Let me know if you have any questions.

LaToya
