Good Morning Colleagues

We are on the last few days countdown to the Southern Festival of Books
where TNLA, FOTL, SELA, TennShare, and TASL will have a presence. But that
is not yet set in stone because we are woefully lacking in volunteers to
work the tent on the two days of the festival.

We need your help! We need to get at least 1-2 volunteers for the booth for
the following time periods where we have no one signed up:

Saturday-
3-6:30

Sunday-
9-12
3-6

We had hoped to have 3 people per time slot but we're going to do what
librarians always do, make it work with what we have, but if you have time
we could also use one more person in the following time slot:

Saturday-
8-11:30, we desperately need an additional volunteer at this time as the
other person planning to be there has to leave at 11 which would put the
booth unmanned for 30 minutes.

Sunday-
12-3

Additionally, we have 5 people for the 11:30-3 slot on Saturday, could any
of you possibly work a different shift?

We have never more needed to be advocating for our libraries and several
committees in TNLA including IF, CYA, Legislation, and DEI really need our
support in being a voice for our patrons. This presence at the festival
hits on many of the topics they are working on throughout the year and they
need help to pull this off so if you live in the Nashville area, or you
can/want to travel from further away, please reply off list to me to let me
know what shift you could work. It's a glorious event and I wish I could be
there.

Thank you to Kathy Dooley-Smith with the Friends of Tennessee Libraries for
being a great organizer and getting all the supplies together, despite
being very busy with prep for the FOTL conference, also this weekend. Thank
you to Cassandra for picking up items from Kathy and Miria for getting
items back to Kathy at the end. Logistics are a lot!

I appreciate all of you, and the work you do in your libraries and for the
association, to further everyone's Freedom to Read and use our beautiful
libraries throughout the state.

If you are involved with particular committees or you are the point person
for a group that's involved, you may get another similar email from me. I
apologize in advance but as my moma used to say, when your ox is in the
ditch you gotta get it out. Please share this and encourage others to come
work. And hey, make it fun, sign up for a time slot and bring a friend with
you to hang out and help you promote libraries!

Thank you so much for your consideration of this need. We're the volunteer
state for a reason, I know we can make this happen!
