Hello Everyone,
I hope each of you are enjoying your summer.
I’m sending out a quick reminder about the upcoming NC1186 Meeting and to bring the information back to the top of your email.
I would like to invite you to
Cincinnati, Ohio to attend our annual research meeting and grower training scheduled for
September 6–8, 2023. I’ve been working to create a program that I hope everyone will enjoy consisting of visiting the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Rockdale Academy gardens, and a commercial greenhouse and nursery facility. Furthermore, Cincinnati
offers a great opportunity to provide a training reaching over 150 growers in the Tri-State region (Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky)!
Meeting Location:
The research meeting and grower training will take place at the
Hamilton County Extension Office (2055 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH 45202).
Lodging:
Two hotels are in a short walking or driving distance to the Extension office. They include:
Travel:
The
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is only 15 to 20 minutes
to the Extension office and hotels. However, if you plan to fly into Columbus, OH, please let me know as carpooling may be an option.
Food:
Multiple restaurants are around the hotels, but I would encourage everyone to consider visiting
Over-The-Rhine, Downtown, or Northside districts
for food, breweries, distilleries and more! Additional information can be found
here.
Research Meeting:
For the research meeting, please prepare a short station report presentation. Whether you provide a station report presentation or not, each experiment station needs to provide
a written station report by September 1, 2023. A template will be provided in another email.
Following the research meeting, we will visit a 333-acre commercial greenhouse, nursery, and retail facility. The nursery will provide us with dinner and drinks after the tour.
Please let me know of any food or dietary restrictions if you have not done so already.
Grower Training:
For the grower training, growers in the region have communicated that they are interested in learning more about water quality, quantity, cleaning/contamination, and sustainable
strategies for irrigation delivery and management. Therefore, please consider this a call for presentation topics and titles. I will organize the program and share with the group.
Please email me ([log in to unmask])
directly if you plan to:
Graduate Student Attendance:
To date, I have only one graduate student listed to participate in the meeting. If you plan to bring your graduate student(s), please send an email with their name(s) and any
food or dietary restrictions. Please indicate if your student would like to provide a presentation at the grower training. There is still room for presenters.
Finally, I’ve provided a generalized schedule below. Please note, all times are presented as Eastern Standard Times. A finalized schedule and grower training program will be
