The NC State University Libraries invites applications and nominations for
the position of NC LIVE Community Engagement Librarian in our NC LIVE
department. NC LIVE is North Carolina’s statewide library cooperative,
supporting 209 public and academic libraries through its mission to support
education, enhance economic development, and improve the quality of life of
all North Carolinians. NC LIVE provides content, products, services,
professional development and technical support to North Carolina’s
libraries. Content includes an online collection of 1.6 billion full-text
articles, eBooks, streaming videos, digitized newspapers, language learning
tools, and more. NC LIVE provides authentication, discovery and website
services to libraries to eliminate barriers to access. NC LIVE provides
professional development opportunities through regional workshops, the
instruction program, and an annual conference. Since its founding in 1997
by representatives of its four Communities of Interest (the community
college system, the independent colleges and universities, the public
libraries and State Library, and the state university system), NC LIVE has
enjoyed a track record of success using entrepreneurial and innovative
approaches that build on its collaborative infrastructure. The organization
acts as a conduit for partnership as its Executive Director engages member
libraries, state agencies and other groups with shared values and goals.

We strongly encourage those who will further advance the Libraries’
commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community, including those
from historically underrepresented groups, to apply for this position. We
welcome applicants with a range of experiences, including those new to the
profession.

This position is based in North Carolina. This position is eligible for
flexible hours and a hybrid work environment, based on departmental and
operational needs. This position will have occasional responsibilities to
cover Libraries events after normal business hours and on weekends.

Responsibilities:

The Community Engagement Librarian will be responsible for establishing and
leading the execution of a cohesive Communications, Marketing and Community
Engagement program to ensure that NC LIVE remains closely aligned with the
needs of its membership and that the value of NC LIVE is broadly known by
librarians and the general public.

The person in this role will assess the effectiveness of NC LIVE’s current
communication, marketing and engagement activities and prioritize those
activities that are most impactful. Additionally, this person will
incorporate their own innovative ideas and best practices from other
organizations to establish a cohesive Communications, Marketing and
Community Engagement program. The Community Engagement Librarian will work
with the Executive Director to determine the program strategy and will be
responsible for its execution, enlisting NC LIVE staff, committee members
and partners as needed to achieve its goals.

The Community Engagement Librarian will utilize various communication
channels to disseminate information about NC LIVE’s content, programs, and
value to a wide variety of stakeholders. Finally, they will lead engagement
activities such as new member orientations, library visits, conference and
meeting participation, and the NC LIVE annual conference. This position
reports to the NC LIVE Executive Director.

Minimum salary: $65,000 annually. Review of applications is underway;
position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. The
Libraries will be flexible during this time and will conduct most or all of
this search remotely.
