Hi all –

I need some assistance. Over the last few years, TEL has added a number of Tennessee Newspapers. The Tennessean, Commercial Appeal, Knoxville News Sentinel and a number of smaller papers via Newspapers.com Southeast Edition. The subscriptions for the more recent content of the Tennessean and Newspapers.com is expensive statewide. In order to make sure we continue to provide those resources, we need to get usage up for the newspapers resources over the next 2 years.  I’m going to meet with our vendor soon to see what we can do to improve the resources on their end. I’m also thinking how I can improve marketing and training on the TEL end. Here is where I need some input from you!

Do you have thoughts about why your patrons aren’t using these resources? (too many clicks, hard to navigate, don’t know about them)

Do you think the interface should have additional tools like clipping?

What type of marketing materials would you like to see for TEL newspapers?

Do you want additional training on navigating these resources?

Should the training be short videos or webinars for library staff?

Particularly for the Tennessean – would you like to see one link for both the new and historical materials?
