The Center for Global Engagement communications team is currently hiring a Social Media Student Assistant position. You can find the job description here. Below is a brief outline of the job. Traditionally, the person in this position has been an undergraduate student, but we encourage graduate students to apply as well. 

 

The position is primarily focused on creating engaging content on the following @utkglobal platforms. This person will spend their time creating graphics, filming short-form video, writing captions, and sharing information about international-focused events, international research, global programming, study abroad experiences, etc.

 

We’re looking for a collaborative person that can build relationships with other social media managers across the CGE department and across campus. The person in this role is encouraged to be creative and suggest new ways of crafting engaging social media content.

GLBS 480 Capstone in Global Studies, 1 credit (54695)

This new capstone is required for all students beginning with the Fall 2022 catalog but open and encouraged for all students nearing graduation. Content will include reflection on major and career preparation knowledge and skills. In addition, it will be an opportunity to get to know other students in the major. I expect the group to be small, so we will arrange mutually agreeable meeting times.

Global Studies Graduate Certificate

The GLBS Graduate Certificate has launched. I included the HANDOUT in the April 5 email. You can also check out the Catalog HERE. 

Graduate students interested in the Certificate should note that “double dipping” with your current program or other certificates is allowed BUT “At least three (3) credit hours for the certificate must be earned outside of the requirements of the degree(s) and other certificates. Since graduate certificates are university credentials, a student must apply through Graduate Admissions to the graduate certificate program. Students must be admitted to the certificate program prior to completing six graduate credit hours toward the certificate.”  See Graduate Catalog https://catalog.utk.edu/content.php?catoid=35&navoid=4802 If you’re interested, contact me (pgellert AT utk.edu) to discuss and fill out an easy form.
