On December 2, 2022, you received an email stating that the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment feedback report was available.  The next question is, what should be done with it? 

 

The overall goal of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment is to improve student learning.  As such, the feedback should be seen as constructive and is not meant to be punitive or taken as a personal attack.  Feedback can bolster the report itself (e.g., clarity or specificity of the outcomes, including necessary documentation, etc.) or feedback can address the “What now?” questions (i.e., action plans, closing the loop, etc.).

 

To answer the initial question, then, the first thing that should be done with the feedback report is to read it.  At the very least there might be some adjustments that could be made to address missing or unclear portions of the assessment report.  There could also be some “closing the loop” suggestions to actively show that your program is seeking improvement of student learning.  To this point, Ashley Charsha (Assistant Director of Academic Assessment in Institutional Effectiveness) is available to consult with you on any questions you may have regarding your feedback and taking the next steps in the assessment process.  She can be reached at [log in to unmask].
