My name is Katlyn White, I am the wilderness volunteer coordinator for the Wenatchee River Ranger District on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest located in the beautiful Leavenworth Washington.
We are currently searching for volunteers with an interest in Outdoor Education/Recreation to be a Volunteer Wilderness/Backcountry Ranger for the upcoming 2023 summer season. This position is full-time (40 hours a week, ~12-15
week commitment with some flexibility starting May 22nd). Individuals will ideally have experience being self-sufficient in remote settings, as duties include overnight backpacking trips 4 days/3nights a week. Individuals should also have a high level of comfort
speaking to the public, as most duties are within a high-use visitor area called the Enchantments.
This opportunity can be used as internship credit – if the school allows. Housing will be provided, a vehicle for work duties, as well as a daily food stipend on days worked (equivalent to about $500 a month). This is a great way for folks to get their
foot in the door for a future career in Outdoor Recreation or Public Land Management.
