The Cultural
and Environmental Resource Management (CERM) interdisciplinary MS graduate program invites students to apply to work with faculty in the
Department of Geography at
Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. The two-year program integrates faculty and course work from Geography, Anthropology, and Economics to develop research on issues related to cultural and natural resource management, environmental change,
and policy.
The priority deadline for Fall
2023 applications and funding is February 1st, 2023, but applications are accepted through April 1st (or later if spots are available). Graduate assistantship funding is available on a competitive basis. Students
applying from the 16 states within the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE)
are eligible for in-state tuition. GRE scores are not required for our program. For

Geography faculty conduct ongoing research in biogeography, paleoecology, geomorphology, water and land management, energy, transportation and human geography, GIScience, and critical cartography. Faculty work with and mentor students to complete original thesis
research with a strong emphasis on fieldwork and/or collaboration with cultural and natural resource agencies or Tribal organizations.
