Are you especially proud of the work that your library has accomplished? You might want to consider throwing your hat in the ring for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service!  The applications is open for submittal, and the deadline is November 1st, so you’ve got time to think about it.

More information and the link to the application are below.  Also below is a link to prior winners so you can get an idea of what’s been approved in the past.

If you are affiliated with a museum who just knocks your socks off, forward this along to them – they deserve to be acknowledged for their good work (as do you!).

I look forward to seeing our state represented as we have been in prior years for both libraries and museums.

Jennifer

Managing Your IMLS Award

Honoring Community Service

in the Museum and Library Fields

Did you know that IMLS has an annual awards program that recognizes the exceptional contributions that museums and libraries make to their communities? Each year, three museums and three libraries receive the National Medal for Museum and Library Service and are honored at an awards ceremony.

The program recognizes outstanding libraries and museums of all types that deeply affect their communities by:

·    fostering a lifelong passion for learning for all people;

·    providing access to information through advancing digital capacity;

·    enriching the lives of community members by being trusted community spaces; and

·    responding to the unprecedented challenges of recent years to revitalize and renew organizational practice.

If this sounds like your institution, please consider nominating it for the National Medal by the November 1, 2022, deadline. Learn more information about the honor on the IMLS website or visit the nomination page. Please refer to this list of past recipients to see examples of the exemplary service honored by IMLS.
