Job Summary/Basic Function

Reporting to the Chair of Collection Development and Management (CDM), perform professional and technical duties related to the operation of the CDM department. Responsible for all financial and fiscal operational activities for the Walker Library materials budget with >$4 million in annual spending, including researching, reconciling, and balancing the integrated library system (FOLIO) with the university accounting system (Banner). Process payments for all materials acquired in the Library Materials budget. Author and generate reports using APIs to advise the Chair on budgetary matters, including recommendations on the interpretation of reports and preparation of the annual materials budget. Extract, cull, and analyze expenditure and commitment data using Microsoft Excel's Power Query Editor. Prepare regular and ad hoc analysis reports including forecasts of trends and adjustments for inflation for presentation to departmental and library recipients. Serve as permanent member of the Library's collection management committee (Information Resources Group) and provide budgetary updates and financial analysis to the group on resources under consideration. Serve as liaison to the Acquisitions and Continuing Resources Librarians and Accounts Payable, Procurement, the Budget Office, and any other campus entities dealing with budgetary matters to resolve payment and workflow issues with vendors and the integrated library system (FOLIO). Submit journal voucher requests to make necessary corrections. Provide oversight and guidance to all CDM personnel on University accounting and purchasing systems, including monitoring and verifying account designations for departmental expenditures. Review relevant library material acquisition and payment workflows and advise staff on new or updated procedures. Work independently, devising workflows and self-monitoring for quality. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting or any bachelor's degree supplemented with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.

Required Related Experience

Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting/accounting or related field, preferably in a higher education setting.

Desirable Related Experience

Working knowledge of Power Query functionality of Microsoft Excel, library services and technical processes, and Banner.

Desirable License/Registration/Certification

Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel
