Hello Colleagues:
Just a reminder that the application deadline for
travel grants to the 2022 GARD Conference is this Friday, 13 May, with awards announced next week. Also, we encourage you to
register as soon as possible (early-bird registration deadline = 27 May).
Field trips and workshops are also filling, so sign-up when you register. If you decide to participate in a workshop or field trip, or want to purchase GARD merchandise after you register, you will need to fill out your personal information again on Page
1 in the
Registration portal, select “I have already registered” as the registration option, proceed to field trips/workshops or merchandise to make your selection, then checkout. Finally, we also encourage you to make hotel reservations as soon as possible using
the
Conference Link, which results in about $100 per night discount. Available rooms are filling fast!
The final draft of the program will be released in early June and will be available on the
Program page of the GARD website. There will be approximately 100 oral presentations and 8 keynote addresses from 15+ countries. In addition, there will be approximately 30 poster presentations
during the student-professional mixer on 8 August. Lastly, we are working on providing an ice breaker social at
Zoo Knoxville during the evening of 4 August.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2022 GARD Conference!
All the Best, Matt

Subject: 2022 GARD Conference is Hybrid (Virtual and In-person Participation Options)
Dear Colleagues:
One more announcement….the
2022 GARD Conference will be hybrid…so in-person and virtual participation will be options. For virtual participation, you can participate in real-time via Zoom
or you can watch recordings of presentations and discussions later. You also can present virtually either in real-time or as a recording. We are still working on the cost of registration…but it looks like virtual participation will be $50-100 USD and in-person
will be $200-300 USD. We hope that offering virtual and in-person options will increase global participation and diversity of presentations delivered!
All the Best, Matt

Subject: 2022 GARD Call for Abstracts and Other Announcements
1 February 2022
Dear Colleagues:
Attached please find the Call for Abstracts for the 2022 Global Amphibian and Reptile Disease (GARD) Conference, which will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, from 4-10 August 2022:
https://tiny.utk.edu/GARD22. Instructions are also available on the GARD website under the “Abstracts”
menu. We strongly recommend that individuals use the Abstract .docx template available on the website. In addition, abstracts must be submitted through the
GARD Abstract Submission Portal – link is located under the Abstracts menu. The hard deadline for abstract submissions is
Friday, 25 March, 23:59 U.S. Eastern Daylight Time. Submitters will be notified about abstract acceptance no later than Friday, 29 April. If you have any questions about abstract instructions
or submissions, please contact one of the co-chairs of the Scientific Committee: Frank Pasmans ([log in to unmask]) or Leon Grayfer ([log in to unmask]).
A registration portal will be available under the “Registration”
menu of the GARD website by 1 April. Additionally, a call for travel grant applications will be posted under the “Travel
Grants” menu of the website by 1 April. The intent of travel grants will be to increase geographic, ethnic and gender diversity at GARD, and priority will be given to students and early career professionals.
Regarding accommodations, we negotiated the U.S. government (CONUS) rate ($102/night) at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Knoxville for the conference. To receive this rate,
you must book a room through the Hilton portal for the GARD Conference, which is located under the “Accommodations”
menu on the GARD website (click “Book Now”). This is a very low rate (ca. half rate) for a hotel room in downtown Knoxville during summer, so we recommend booking as soon as possible. If you are looking for a roommate, please use the
GARD Twitter account for requests.
Also, a reminder that the
Call for Workshop proposals (see below) remains open until 1 March, and those are submitted directly to Mark Wilber ([log in to unmask]).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the individuals on the 2022 GARD
Steering Committee.
We are looking forward to hosting you in Knoxville!!
Best regards,
Matt
