The United for Libraries Intellectual Freedom Task Force has organized a two-part webinar, "Keeping Governance on Track<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/bHZ3C1w9qVhMwlDNLuz3Glh?domain=americanlibraryassociation.informz.net>," that will be presented by the United for Libraries Intellectual Freedom Task Force on March 29 and 31. These webinars will be free to all, thanks to a bequest from the late Jack Neal. ). In "Keeping Governance on Track<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/bHZ3C1w9qVhMwlDNLuz3Glh?domain=americanlibraryassociation.informz.net>," professional parliamentarian Nancy Sylvester<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/rsmoC680yYhrlqAYZIpmwtyF?domain=americanlibraryassociation.informz.net>  will share actions, training, and preparation boards and library directors can take now to be ready for problems and issues, and tips/best practices for handling in the moment problems/issues in board meetings. The March 29 webinar will address actions, training, preparation, etc. boards and library directors take to be prepared for problems/issues. The March 31 webinar will be a mock board meeting. This series is made possible by the Jack Neal Fund.
Part 1 is a 60-minute webinar featuring an expert in parliamentary procedure (presentation, Q&A, handout) - What actions, training, preparation, etc. can boards and library directors take now to be ready for problems/issues, which can be from meeting disruptions by non-board members, a board bully, one board member taking over the meeting and pushing his/her/their own personal agenda, e.g.
Tips , best practices, etc. for handling in the moment problems in board meetings.
Tips, best practices, etc. for boards when there's a conflict of personal values with library values.

Part 2 is a 60-minute mock board meeting.  The "actors" will stop at pre-determined places for the parliamentarian to provide in-the-moment tips, advice, etc. for handling the misbehavior and interruptions.
