Add your voice to support school libraries in Tennessee. HB 1944/SB1944 places school districts at risk of 1st amendment violations as those lacking an understanding of what is considered "obscene" illegally remove books with which they disagree. This bill is also redundant as a harmful to minors obscenity law already exists under TN Code, and school libraries are not in violation of this law. Furthermore, none of the recently challenged books are considered obscene under the Miller Test and are therefore considered illegal acts of censorship.
