Freight Transportation Stakeholders:

There was an error in the original message in the announcement below; the incorrect webinar title was shown. The correct webinar title is as follows:

"The Future of Technology in Truck Size and Weight Enforcement"

Also, we're transitioning to a new webinar format (Zoom is replacing Adobe Connect) and Zoom only allows shorter webinar summaries. Part of the webinar summary in the link below was cut off. We're in the process of replacing what is shown in the registration link with a shorter summary; that summary should be shown in the link soon. The longer, more comprehensive summary is shown in the webinar announcement below (and was included in the original Freight LISTSERV message).

My apologies for any confusion. I encourage you to register for next week's webinar.

Description and Presentations: Truck travel continues to increase, putting additional pressure on commercial motor vehicle enforcement personnel monitoring compliance with Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Size & Weight laws and regulations set by federal and state governments. Forecasts of future truck travel point to steady volume increases, heightening the interest in the CMV enforcement community in pursuing the integration of enforcement technologies into their CMV enforcement programs. Both public sector governments and private sector companies are taking steps to enhance their development and use of CMV enforcement technologies. As examples, the states of Florida and Montana are actively pursuing and deploying enforcement technologies to support their programs. On the private sector side, International Roadway Dynamics, Inc. (IRD) and Kistler Corporation are two of several firms offering technology-based enforcement packages supporting CMV Size & Weight compliance determinations.

This webinar will discuss what enforcement technologies Florida and Montana currently have in place and in development and review their future needs that would help in advancing their enforcement programs. The webinar will also talk about what technologies IRD and Kistler currently have available and what kinds of enforcement technology innovations will be developed in the next five to ten years.
