Art Spiegelman is a Pulitzer Prize-winning Artist/Illustrator and author of the Maus. He has been an important force in the world of comics. His career has included co-founding RAW, the acclaimed avant-garde comics magazine, with his wife, Françoise Mouly—Maus was originally serialized in the pages of RAW. Working as a staff artist and writer for the New Yorker from 1993-2003. Serving as a creative consultant for Topps Bubble Gum Co. from 1965-1987, during which he created Wacky Packages, Garbage Pail Kids, and other novelty items. He has taught at the School for Visual Arts in New York and Columbia University. In 2005, Art Spiegelman was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. He was made an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France in 2007 and—the American equivalent—played himself on an episode of “The Simpsons. In 2020 the New York Public Library voted Maus: A Survivor’s Tale one of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years.
