Mindfulness
@ the Museum

 

Take a break out of your hectic schedule to refocus with a guided meditation among the artwork of Shane Pickett every Friday this month at 1:00PM.

Chairs and benches will be available. You may bring your own meditation cushion if desired.

Darwin Day Celebration

Come celebrate Charles Darwin's 114th birthday at the McClung! We will feature Darwin and his scientific influence at a family-friendly program on Sunday, February 20th. Join us for craft activities, specimens' displays, virtual reality interactives and much more!

General registration will open February 11th.

Lecture: Henry Skerritt


The McClung Student Advisory Board is pleased to present a lecture by Henry Skerritt, the curator of the Indigenous Arts of Australia at the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia.

Pre-registration is not required for this event. Skerritt’s lecture will compliment the exhibition, Shane Pickett: Djinong Djina Boodja (Look at the Land that I Have Traveled), which is on view at the McClung Museum through May 7th. Read more here.

#PlantOfTheMonth: Roots & Tubers

Our January Plant of the Month left us hungry. Learn about a larger grouping of plants with similar growth forms: potatoes (Solanum tuberosum), sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas), and yams (Dioscorea spp.).You can read about the differences of these plants, and then whip up a favorite recipe from our staff member, Chris Weddig.
