Applying the Concept of Cultural Humility to Libraries: A Pathway to Better Libraries
Wednesday, January 19, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm CST
Cultural humility is a framework new to libraries that has the promise to change the approach to DEI within library spaces. Cultural humility can operate on two levels: the interpersonal for individuals and systems level for organizations.
In this workshop, participants will use andragogy-designed active learning strategies to examine their identity to focus on their role as a colleague and as a professional and learn actionable strategies to practice cultural humility as a library worker. This
course aims to aid library workers with knowledge about their identity and role as a critical departure point for the practice of cultural humility.
