Dear Geographers and Sustainers,

Are you still looking for another class for this semester? Looking to take a class that is interactive and fun? Do you always have your head in the clouds? Good news! GEOG 334 Meteorology still has seats available and I would love to have you in class this semester!

The course is scheduled for MWF 11:45a–12:35p, plus an additional lab (two options). The course is open to all and there are no formal prerequisites, although a background of GEOG 131 or similar would be ideal.

The course is mostly qualitative survey of the field of meteorology, or the study of weather. In the lab, you skill build using real-world weather data and products in order to learn about the forecast process. The field of meteorology is more than you see on the news. You will learn how the atmosphere works, how forecasts are generated by the National Weather Service, and how to make a forecast yourselves! Guest speakers will include professionals in the fields of meteorology and atmospheric science.
