1) ASHE 2021 Conference On-Demand Recordings Available

The ASHE 2021 Conference On-Demand Sessions are now available. Attendees of the conference can view the session recordings until May 1, 2022, via the Playback ASHE portal with their login information.

 

Those who did not attend the 46th Annual ASHE Conference may purchase access to view the General Conference on demand, as well as the Council Pre-Conferences, through the Playback ASHE portal.

2) Call for Editorial Board Members and Volunteers - Journal of Developmental Education

The Journal of Developmental Education (JDE) is a peer-reviewed journal committed to the scholarly exchange of information and ideas related to the practice, theory, research, and news of the postsecondary developmental education community. Given JDE’s recent transition to an open-access format and new leadership, the journal is currently seeking applications for its editorial team. Available positions include editorial board member, associate editor, editorial assistant, reviewers, copy editor, and typesetter.

 

All positions serve a term of two-years (January 2022- December 2023). Editorial board members and associate editors must possess a doctorate or terminal degree, or have significant experience related to developmental education. Graduate students are also encouraged to apply for the editorial assistant, reviewer, copy editor, and typesetter positions.

 

Applications are due by December 15, 2021 at 11:59 pm Eastern. Decision notifications will be sent in January 2022. For any questions, please send an email to [log in to unmask].

3) Call for Papers - Journal of Praxis in Higher Education

The Journal of Praxis in Higher Education (JPHE) is now calling for papers for its 2022 issues.

 

JPHE is a journal dedicated to high quality research on, or scholarship related to, praxis within higher education teaching, learning, research, and activities aimed at impact on the wider society (e.g., policy analysis, activist research, or capacity building).

4) Call for Chapters - Tactics of Belonging in Higher Education

Scholarship on diversity and inclusion in higher education indicates that diversity initiatives do not necessarily lead to inclusion; fostering inclusion at the system level requires simultaneous attention to the matter of belonging. The volume will highlight pedagogies, programming, and campus initiatives that contribute to the development of students’ sense of belonging.

 

The Tactics of Belonging in Higher Education volume invites chapter proposals that are animated by the questions: What are you doing to foster a sense of belonging in the curriculum, classrooms, departments, programs/offices, campus-wide, and/or inter-institutionally? How have your practices evolved in relation to student experiences and feedback? What efforts have failed and what have you learned about how your efforts are influencing the experiences of students?

5) Call for Proposals - USAID Higher Education Global Evidence Summit

Proposals for the inaugural USAID Higher Education Global Evidence Summit are due Friday, December 9. The Summit is a great opportunity for academics, researchers, donors, and practitioners to showcase emerging research, new data, trends, and promising practices as they relate to higher education in a global forum.

 

The summit has three interrelated themes: Employability, Innovation, and Private Sector Engagement. It will take place virtually in half-day sessions over three weeks in 2022, including the paired dates of May 3 and 4, May 10 and 11, as well as May 17 and 18.

6) Position Announcement - Director of Strategic Communications

The individual hired into this highly visible role will help communicate the needs, goals, and strategies to transform the Massachusetts higher education system to serve all students, particularly Black, Latinx, and other students who have been historically excluded.

 

The position is responsible for creating and executing an equity-minded strategic communications plan intended to heighten awareness about the importance of higher education for achieving racial equity and increasing social mobility, and to build support for transformative change. The Director is also responsible for the Department of Higher Education’s media relations, as well as direct contact with the higher education community and key external stakeholders.

7) Position Announcement - Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Community Engagement

The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a 12-month, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement. The Associate Dean will advance the College’s commitment to creating a culture that recognizes, affirms, and reflects diverse backgrounds, experiences, knowledge traditions, viewpoints, and beliefs.

 

The college seeks candidates whose scholarship and praxis engages the transformational capacities of education for marginalized communities to help grow the college’s focus and reach in preparing future educational leaders to transform educational systems and larger social orders.

8) Position Announcement - Visiting Instructor

The Higher Education and Student Affairs Program in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Lifelong Learning (LPLL) at the University of South Florida invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure-track, Visiting Instructor position.

 

The position requires the ability to teach in both the master’s degree program in College Student Affairs and the doctoral program in Higher Education Administration. The programs emphasize sound theoretical and research-based foundations combined with integrated and challenging applications to problems of practice. These programs have particular course needs for Policy and Legal Dimensions, Governance and Finance, Community Colleges, and Law and Student Affairs.

The Department of Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses across all department programs (EdD, EdS, and MS) through the lens of racial equity and social justice.

The School of Education at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position beginning August 2022. 13) Position Announcement - Research Fellow

The Research Fellow in the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning (CTRL) will explore issues related to program evaluation and impact assessment for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in higher education.

 

The Research Fellow will support CTRL, in partnership with the Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in all aspects of research — grant seeking, proposal writing, research design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings — that focus on evaluating the outcomes and impact of American University’s DEI initiatives as outlined in AU’s Inclusive Excellence Plan. This includes inclusive teaching, antiracist curriculum, and faculty development.
