SIS Faculty will offer a discussion session on
November 19th, 2021 at 9:00 am. This event will be hosted on Zoom to facilitate attendance. This first session will be about Grant Writing (Interdisciplinary collaboration) and the FDSA
committee will facilitate the discussion with some talking points and questions.
Please bring you questions for an engaging discussion, if you would like to send me any questions in advance please feel free to do that as well.
The 9:00 am on Friday time slot is chosen because there are no SIS classes at this time. I will send a zoom link closer to the event.

Subject: Professional Development for Doctoral Students
Dear SIS doctoral students,
Hello,
I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your classes, teaching and research!
The SIS Faculty and Doctoral Student Affairs (FDSA) Committee would like your input in planning for some professional development activities for this academic year. We would like to schedule
brown bag discussions, presentations and related activities to support you as you progress in the PhD program.
In late 2019, I had sent an initial survey to you all about potential topics for a brown bag and one suggestion was “Grant Writing”, we were not able to offer that brown bag because of Covid
in Spring 2020. As we plan for new topics, please let me know if you would like us to plan a “Grant Writing” brown-bag for this semester. Also, please let me know if you have any other ideas for topics for professional development.

all and an active year of faculty-doctoral student interaction in this year!
