Library Fund Development and Outreach Manager-Full Time

Knox County Public Library
Monday-Friday: regular business hours.  Other hours as required.

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to promote a sustainable program of fundraising to ensure the viability of ongoing Knox County Library programs and increase library presence and services in the community.

Essential Functions

Act as principal investigator for grant proposal development and grant management and manage an annual average of twelve (12)
concurrent grant-funded programs

Manage day-to-day operations of development functions including bookkeeping and administrative tasks associated with fund
development; assist in staffing and set-up of displays or events

Assume leadership role in the absence of the Assistant Director, Marketing, Communications, & Development

Ensure ongoing funding for existing Library functions such as the Imagination Library, The Big Read, Children’s Festival of Reading,
and summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults; identify and pursue funding for new programs; conduct research to identify potential funding sources and maximize successful procurement of grants

Maintain a cooperative working relationship with 501c3 nonprofit organizations such as Friends of Knox County Public Library and the
Knox County Public Library Foundation

Responsible for stewardship of funds and funded programs; ensure compliance with criteria set by funding agencies and all applicable laws, donor standards, and code of ethical principles and standards for fundraising professionals

Raise funds from individual contributors and community-based funding sources; cultivate and maintain relationships with funders and
prospects; conduct major gift campaigns; maintain database of funding sources and donor histories fundamental to producing accurate fundraising reports; develop program funds for special events at Lawson McGhee including Rothrock series, book and author events; solicit sponsors for Movies on Market Square, Festival of Reading, Summer Library Club and other library programs; develop endowment and grassroots campaign for Imagination Library

Work closely with library administration and staff to develop implementation plans and method for outreach initiatives, increase number of library cardholders, and provide equitable delivery of library services in the community

Develop, document, maintain communication and evaluate partnerships with community agencies including nonprofit organizations and local and state government departments

Develop programs, events and services in concert engagement with community collaborators to meet the needs of underserved populations to extend the library's impact

Coordinate library's participation in large community events such as the Back-to-School Bash, Hola Festival and Open Streets Knoxville

Develop presentations, online tools, training and programs for library staff and community groups to promote library services and resources.


Additional Job Functions

Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours

Respond to and report immediately if called upon by local regional or central office supervisors as part of a coordinated emergency response by the Knox County Health Department

Perform other duties as required


Minimum Training & Qualifications

Master’s degree in Library Science

Minimum of five years’ related experience

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position

Ability to regularly use a variety of office equipment including multi-line phone, photocopier, calculator, postage meter, and fax machine

Ability to regularly use the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word word processing, Excel spreadsheet, Access database, and PowerPoint programs

Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a large organization
