The incumbent to this position will assist with field work, data collection and data analysis, for Asian carp research and removal projects conducted by KDFWR in western Kentucky. Field work will primarily be conducted on the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers in Western Kentucky including Kentucky and Barkley Lakes, as well as the Ohio and Mississippi rivers on occasion. Sampling and removal efforts will include work with gill nets, electrofishing, block nets, experimental gear designs, and commercial fishing. Maintenance, enhancement and tagging fish for the acoustic telemetry array in western Kentucky will be conducted on a routine basis. Required work hours are 37.5 hours/week, however, overtime and irregular shifts are required for completion of projects. Special requirements or preferred skills: Proficient with boat operation in various waterbodies and weather conditions.
