ESRI is one of the few companies that brought all of their interns on during the pandemic (virtually). Often a summer internship with ESRI is a 12-week job interview with the company hiring folks at the end. This is rolling so the earlier you apply the better chances you have. In the past this covered your lodging, food, and entrance to the conference in exchange for volunteering a few hours per day at the conference. ESRI puts their money where their mouth is with a heavy emphasis on conservation, science, humanitarian assistance, and sustainability. Also, keep in mind that ESRI is a huge company and they hire everyone from human resources specialists to contract lawyers to graphic designers.
