UT Libraries seeks a results-oriented, creative, proactive, and organized individual to serve as Collection Management Librarian for a limited duration appointment. This position will serve as project manager for a multi-year project involving strategic planning, assessment, retention, and disposition of the Libraries’ physical collections in preparation for a planned off-site storage facility, and with the goal of maximizing effective and innovative use of the Libraries’ physical spaces while preserving the excellence of our collections. The Librarian will work with a smart, efficient, and engaged team to plan, launch, execute, and track progress on this multi-faceted project. This is a position of matrix leadership, coordinating planning and processes across multiple library departments and stakeholders, including but not limited to: Assessment Programs and Collections Strategy (APCS), Collection Logistics, Cataloging, Acquisitions and Continuing Resources (ACR), Liaison Programs, Special Collections, Preservation, and Library Administration.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  *   Convene a project team consisting of members from units across the Libraries
  *   In consultation with the project team and other stakeholders, create a plan and timeline for the project
  *   In coordination with stakeholders, draft retention and disposition guidelines for all Libraries facilities while ensuring collaborative print retention commitments are honored
  *   With support from Assessment Programs and Collection Strategy (APCS), use a product such as Greenglass to analyze our collection and inform retention decisions
  *   Recommend which retained items should move to storage and which should remain in Hodges or a branch library
  *   Invite stakeholder input and communicate progress to project stakeholders in the Libraries; work with others on external communications
  *   Work with Preservation Specialist to assess microfilm in storage for electronic access and deaccession as necessary
  *   Coordinate retention decisions for maps
  *   Work with Cataloging department on database maintenance and processing related to collections inventory and retention decisions
  *   Working with Collection Logistics and APCS, develop a preliminary inventory of space and shelving needs

QUALIFICATIONS
Required -

  *   ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library/Information Science or equivalent degree in relevant discipline
  *   Demonstrated experience managing multifaceted projects
  *   Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills
  *   Demonstrated experience using spreadsheets
  *   Evidence of ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse academic community, including with library colleagues and campus partners
  *   Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  *   Evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion in a higher education setting
Preferred -

  *   Experience performing data analysis and using data to make evidence-based decisions
  *   Experience with collection development in an academic library
  *   Experience as a subject librarian or subject liaison

BENEFITS

Temporary appointment at the rank of Lecturer with a salary of $50,000 with the option to renew up to 3 years.  Faculty rank and status; twelve-month, non-tenure-track appointment.



Excellent benefits include 24 annual leave days; choice of state retirement plan (TCRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) (VOYA, TIAA, VALIC) with nonrefundable contributions paid for the employee by the University; optional group health and life insurance plans.
