Nathan and I are offering an exciting course this fall: GEOG 313 -Geospatial Field Methods of UAVs, LiDAR, and GPS. This course will teach you how to fly drones and use LiDAR to collect the geospatial data firsthand. Then, you will learn how to process and analyze the collected 3-dimensional data.

This fall, I will teach GEOG 313: Geospatial Field Methods of UAVs, Lidar, and GPS, with our GIS lab manager, Nathan McKinney. This course will provide field work and lab experience in using UAVs (small drones), LiDAR, and GPS to obtain, process, and analyze geospatial data. The field component will teach how to use the UAV, LiDAR, and GPS equipment to obtain data. The lab component teaches how to process and analyze the data.
This course was originally scheduled on Friday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. After receiving
some feedback, we have adjusted it to 2:50-4:05 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. We hope that this revised schedule will allow more students to enroll this course.
