Dear TLA listserv,
After the move to our new building, the Tennessee State Library and Archives is giving away surplus microfilm readers/printers, free to archives and libraries on a first come, first served basis. Please keep in mind that these items are
in very used condition, some are not currently functioning, and the items are offered as-is.
You’ll find a list of reader/printers below, and accompanying photos are attached. There are nine total microfilm reader/printers, and four total printers. Most reader/printers are equipped with a coin op that takes quarters for payment
per copy. The only fully functioning package is reader/printer #4 connected to printer #00143, which also includes a couple of leftover toner cartridges. The other reader/printers are in various conditions and will need repair. Those that are marked out-of-order
could still be used as microfilm readers only, so the coin op would be unnecessary. Please note that these older machines will require periodic maintenance and toner. Finding parts suppliers and vendors who can service these older units are becoming increasingly
difficult to find.
Additionally, one book cradle with a connected PC is available. The PC runs on a very outdated Windows operating system. IT has advised that this PC should serve as a stand-alone unit to serve the book cradle and should not be connected
to any network.
TSLA cannot ship this equipment, so the responsibility is yours to remove and transport the units. The equipment is offered on a first come, first served basis, and must be picked up no later than July 16.
Please email Nat Taylor at
