Position Description

This position is the 2nd shift supervisor of The Studio, a media production and design lab, part of the Scholars’ Collaborative department in the Libraries. The person in this position is vested with supervisory and operational responsibilities including responsibility for a media lab, in-depth consulting services, and user instruction. The position supervises operations in The Studio, during the 2nd shift, including supervision of students working in the Studio. Provides basic troubleshooting for Studio computers and media source equipment.

This position works closely with other library staff to provide instructional and creative services. Provides assistance and instruction to public and staff on educational uses and applications of multimedia computer equipment, software, and production processes. Provides direction of consulting desk services and the student employees who provide them. Advises team on service issues and recommends approaches for successful and innovative service delivery. Contributes to the mission of Libraries and department through special projects and interactions.

The person will be responsible for service operations in the delivery of Studio services, during the 2nd shift, and must assure that best practices in service delivery are consistently performed. The person in this position must hire, supervise, evaluate, and organize the work assignments of student library assistants deployed in front line operations. The person in this position will be accountable for ensuring that every student employed under his/her supervision performs these procedures and carry out policies in a standard and consistent manner. The person in this position must be prepared to work independently and with a high level of autonomy that does not require close supervision.
