Letter from the Dean

Dear CCI Community,

As a follow up to the UTK Office of Diversity and Engagement’s/UTK Center for Global Engagement’s Statement of Support to the AAPI Community, I’m sending this note to let you know that the College of Communication and Information Community stands in solidarity with our Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) friends, including  faculty, staff, students and alumni, who have experienced a significant increase in hate crimes, acts of violence and discrimination. We are here to support you in any way we can and want you to know that we condemn all acts of hatred, violence and bigotry that you have senselessly endured. Please know that we promise to redouble our efforts to provide a safe and welcoming place where everyone matters and belongs and where everyone receives the respect, dignity, and compassion they so richly deserve. We must work together to build a better world by treating each other like we would like to be treated. Remember, Vol Means All, and we are all in this together!

With deepest respect,

Dean Mike Wirth
