The Unites States workforce has over 18,000 work related eye-injuries that resulted in lost time. This number does not account for some minor injuries or those that may occur with non-employed students.

The month of March is Workplace Eye Wellness Month. EHS will be promoting eye safety throughout the month with social posts and digital signs.

 

Intended audience

Anyone who faces or supervises those who may face an eye injury risk.

These risks include:

• Physical projectiles (dust, particles, or other objects that may be ejected or thrown by machinery or equipment)
• Facilities Services
• Other Maintenance and Operations groups
• Chemical splash (primarily corrosives liquids)
• Facilities Services
• Other Maintenance and Operations groups
• Laboratory researchers
• Intense light and lasers
• Usually laboratory researchers
