All,
I’m happy to announce a VERSO update release, scheduled for Tuesday March 2, 2021. We’ll bring the system down at 10:00pm Pacific (7:00pm Eastern) – it should be back up within 10-15 minutes.
If we run into issues, we may be unavailable a little longer.
The following ticket (7134) is of particular interest, as it provides a visual indicator of the format of the title in PAC. These have been changed and updated to more legible icons than what
had appeared in previous versions.

Description |

Format Icons are back on list view and full record screens. VERSO will now display format icons for
50+ distinct formats. These icons are derived from a combination of codes that pertain to the record in:
We will be posting a list of all formats and their derivations to the VERSO Support Documentation pages. You will see icons as shown below: List view - Merged: List View – Clustered: Full Record: |

PAC – Staff placing hold on behalf of patron. The January release inadvertently dropped support for the “Current Patron” button on the PAC Holds Screen when staff was placing holds on behalf of patrons. This button has been restored. |

Patron Status and Checkout screen / Patron Fines and Fees screen
was not showing the Checkout Location when the item became lost because of the Remove Overdues report. “Removed Overdues” is a VERSO report that automatically changes overdue items to lost items after a library-selected number of days. This report is an alternative to the Overdue Notice approach. Although the item was being properly changed to Lost and the lost fee was correctly charged, VERSO was not including the original Checkout Location in the fines record in this report. This has now been addressed
and the original Checkout location column will now be populated.. |
63776 |
VERSO Lists – now will have distinct names when created as a guest. The workflow problem was as follows:
What will happen now: The second and subsequent list names will be followed by a ‘+1’, ‘+2’, and so on, to keep them distinct. |
63508 |
VERSO reports – Reserve Listings Report –
will now include the item call number
for the item listed. Please note: Most reserves are placed on a title level at most VERSO libraries, meaning we do not know the specific item that will eventually satisfy the hold
while it is still in the holds queue. That assignment is not made until the item is scanned at Checkin to actually satisfy the hold. Therefore, this new column will show the call number of the first associated item record attached to the title on hold.
This item call number will almost always be correct but may vary according to library processing practices. |

Patron Status and Checkout – Email checkout receipts.
Prior to this version, when a checkout receipt was sent by email, it carried the generic and uninformative subject of “Receipt”. Several Libraries asked to be able to use their own subject line, such as “Receipt from Mapletown Library”. This can now be done in Circ Admin / Receipts and Notice Configuration.
This configurations appears about 2/3 of the way down that list. Outgoing checkout receipts can be configured with text of the library’s choice:
If the library doesn’t configure its own local value, the receipt subject will be changed as shown above. |
67607 |
VERSO results – List View – Clustered arrangement. When the cover art to the left of the title was clicked, the system displayed the first full bibliographic record it found,
whether it was the specific format that the patron desired or not. Corrected: now when a user clicks the cover art and there are two or more titles in the cluster, they will see a
Brief Bib screen with a choice of formats to select from. |
67531 |
Kids Catalog will now show the correct “Kids Catalog” header at the top of the Kids catalog screen. It had been incorrectly displaying the library’s ‘adult’ catalog banner. |
67686 |
A problem with “Did You Mean” not giving suggestions has been corrected. |
