*Primary Duties and Responsibilities:*

The collections manager is the primary staff member charged with
maintaining the library's special and archival collections and museum
collections and the records that document them. The collections manager is
responsible for the accessioning and processing of all manuscript,
archives, and rare book holdings maintained as part of the library’s music
and university special collections and will play an instrumental role in
the development and documentation of policies/procedures governing the
arrangement and description of these materials. Position will provide
oversight for the Gallery of Iconic Guitars (GIG) and the Frederick Hart
Studio Gallery operations and collections.

   - Manages proper documentation of the archival and gallery collections,
   including accessioning and deaccessioning, cataloging, inventories, and
   other records.
   - Maintains the collections management database (Proficio) and object
   files.
   - Ensures proper care and preservation of the gallery and archival
   collections by managing the collections, environmental conditions data and
   analysis, and curatorial housekeeping.
   - Develops, recommends, and documents policies, procedures, and
   standards for arranging, describing, preserving and maintaining manuscript,
   archives, books, and non-textual materials.
   - Serves as a liaison to the Gallery of Iconic Guitars affiliates and
   works in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and
   Library Director to facilitate GIG and Hart Gallery events.
   - Oversees operations for the Gallery of Iconic Guitars and Frederick
   Hart Studio Gallery, including supervising student docents.
   - Serves on the Digital Projects Team with the purpose of developing and
   digitizing special collections for the Belmont Digital Repository.
   - Must be willing to interact with the public, responding to research
   requests and GIG inquiries, and participating in outreach activities.

   - Strong organizational skills, and effectiveness in balancing multiple
   assignments and projects.
   - Thorough knowledge of collections management standards and best
   practices.
   - Demonstrated creativity, initiative, self-direction, and innovative
   thinking.
   - Effective oral and written communication.
   - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully in
   an intensely collaborative environment with a broad range of people from
   culturally diverse backgrounds including colleagues, administrators,
   students, faculty, donors, and alumni.
   - Ability to hire and supervise student workers.
   - An aptitude for detailed work.
   - Strong organizational skills, and effectiveness in balancing multiple
   assignments and projects.
   - Ability to work efficiently with frequent interruptions and handle
   multiple tasks effectively.
   - Should possess general knowledge of the functions of a university
   library.
   - Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to
   respond to high-pressure situations.
   - Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.

*Required Education:*

Master’s degree in history (with archival experience), museum studies,
public history, or other field related to collections, archives, and
library science strongly preferred.

*Required Experience:*

   - Experience using Digital Commons, ContentDM, Proficio, Alma, and/or
   other content management systems.
   - Supervisory experience preferred.
   - Experience processing physical materials and born-digital resources,
   including non-textual materials.
   - Evidence of successful project management and leadership skills.
