Colleagues,

As we begin the spring semester, we hope to build upon the great work that was done in the fall to communicate expectations and recommendations for healthy behaviors to help curb the spread of COVID-19. In October 2020, a pulse survey was conducted with students on our campus to gauge how students plan to act, as well as how they expect their peers to behave. There were significant differences in the intentions students reported of themselves versus their perceptions of other students’ intentions. This gap in perceptions is an opportunity to create awareness that in fact, the majority of students intend to practice healthy behaviors.

To help address this gap in perceptions, we ask your college/department to join us in sharing these messages with students.

Share on Social Media: Student Life Communications created a Google Drive containing social media graphics options for you to use to help share these messages. Included in this folder are images that can be posted to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Also included are video files that can be shared on Instagram as an IG Story.

Post on Digital Signage: The same graphics have been tailored to the correct size for all the different digital signs across campus. Please use the size appropriate for your screen.

You will notice with all these assets, there are pairs that coordinate with each other. A Social Norm statistic about mask-wearing is complimented by a graphic of the same color with a Call to Action about mask-wearing. (The same is true for hand sanitizing and gathering in groups.) While any of these graphics could stand alone, you are encouraged to share coordinating pairs together for the most effective messaging.

Special thanks to the Postsecondary Education Research Center for their partnership with the Student Life Office of Assessment and Strategic Initiatives and the Center for Health Education and Wellness in identifying opportunities to change perceptions.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out! Lauri Dusselier, director of the Center for Health Education and Wellness, and I are happy to connect you with any resources that may be helpful. Thank you for your support as we continue to encourage healthy behaviors.
