Good afternoon all,

I hope that you are all having a good January and enjoying the seed catalog stage of the gardening year!

This winter is a bit different than most as we stick closer to home and look for Master Gardener events and activities that can be a bit more distanced. So, this is a quick note to share upcoming distance education and connection opportunities. Attached is a quick reference sheet to the great activities coming us this year for you as Master Gardeners.

Our very first FRIDAY FOCUS of 2021 is this Friday, January 29th at 11 eastern and 10 central! We will be connecting live from Murfreesboro, TN and have a special guest from Florida Extension!
All of the zoom information will be sent out later this week to everyone who has registered using this simple Google Form-we already have almost 330 folks registered for the information, and here is the link if you need it https://forms.gle/ohko6mCTHqP4bxeDA.

Also, I would like to share a new opportunity for you to engage and get some volunteer service hours in the process.

We are planning to put together an Extension Materials team to review drafts of in process publications and teaching tools and maybe in the future help develop them. I have been talking with Dr. PJ Snodgrass, who is working on a new set of training materials for teaching herb growing in therapeutic horticulture settings. She would really enjoy engaging with some MG volunteers to review and test those materials for the UT Gardens team. Plus, I know of several Extension publications (herbs, propagation, trees, woodland shade gardens, home fruit) in development that would be great to get MG input from around the state.

We are planning an initial team visit on the afternoon of Feb. 17th to share ideas and get folks going. So, you can use this simple Google Form to sign up if you are interested: https://forms.gle/iKUsaYSYyP74p7kk6

Thanks and have a great week ahead, Natalie
