Does your library have a special collection full of rich historic details about the community you serve? While relatively few people actively seek out primary local history materials, everyone loves to hear stories about the place they live. This presentation will discuss how to get your community to engage with your local history collections using social media, traditional media, and library programming. Finally, the presentation will explore ways to get people in your community to share their own stories.

Both Marlys Lien and Mary Carpenter are working at Council Bluffs Public Library in Iowa. Marlys is Adult Programming Librarian and Mary is Support Service Manager.
