"Singular They: A Historic Gender-Neutral Pronoun for Modern Times" with Elizabeth Kirby

Elizabeth Kirby is a native Tennessean originally from Franklin. She moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee in 2012 and graduated in 2016 with a BA in English (technical communications concentration). In 2016, STC-ETC awarded her with the Blakely Award of Merit for technical/professional writing. Elizabeth has been working within the US Department Energy complex since 2016. She was first employed as a procedure writer at the Transuranic Waste Processing Center, and in 2019, she accepted a job as a technical writer/editor at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

"Writing Your CV: Tips from an Editor" with Olivia Shafer

Olivia Shafer is a technical writer and editor at the US Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). She primarily supports ORNL’s Energy Science and Technology Directorate and Biological and Environmental Systems Science Directorate. Olivia earned her BA in English from Covenant College in 2016 and provided editing support to an ORNL group from 2016 to 2019 before joining ORNL’s Technical Communications team in 2019. She edits a variety of content, meets with authors to provide writing guidance, and collaborates with authors, other editors, and formatters to provide high-quality publications.
