SEDAAG Members –

Did you know that there will be a virtual World Geography Bowl at this year’s SEDAAG Meeting?

In case you haven’t heard of it, the World Geography Bowl is a ‘quiz bowl’ style team competition where all the questions are geographically oriented. Think Jeopardy! but with teams of six players instead of everyone competing alone, and the category is always “World Geography”.

This year, we will be holding World Geography Bowl in a virtual format, using Zoom. Participants need to have internet access and a working camera and microphone. Please share this call widely with students and others who might not otherwise know about the event.

The event will occur in two parts with the traditional team round robins on Friday November 6th from 3pm ET until no later than 6pm ET. The Faculty Dream Team vs. Student All-Stars and the Finals will occur on Saturday November 7th at 6pm ET.

Each state in the division is invited to send a team to represent it in the competition. We also will be accepting individual registrations.

You can contact your state coordinator to see if there is room left on their roster, or complete the registration form and be added to a team by the World Geography Bowl Committee. Contact information for state coordinators can be found below. If your state is not listed, go ahead and fill out the registration form for yourself to be placed on a team. Slots on teams are first come, first served, so get registered today! The deadline to register is October 26th at 11:59pm ET to allow us to establish a team count. Registration information and team rosters can be edited until November 3rd at 11:59pm ET.

The registration form can be found at: https://forms.gle/qVgCfjY27VMzfv417

You will receive a confirmation email when you register. You will then be notified by the World Geography Bowl Committee on or before October 28th with your team assignment. If you do not receive that confirmation by October 30th, please email Dr. Dawn Drake at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

Floridians wishing to play should contact Stephanie Mundis, University of Florida ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>)

North Carolinians wishing to play should contact Shane Canup, University of North Carolina - Greensboro ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>)

Virginians wishing to play should contact Dr. Joe Nicholas, University of Mary Washington ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>)

If any faculty members are interested in serving as the coordinator for a state not listed here, please contact me as soon as possible at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

In addition to the opportunity to win recognition for your state, high scorers will be invited to participate in the virtual World Geography Bowl at the 2021 AAG Meeting and have their registration paid to attend.

If you have any questions, contact me at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
