Good morning!
The only thing that remain constant with electronic resources is they are always changing! As there have been quite a few changes with TEL and other educational resources during the last few months, here is a recap of TEL changes:
-
In May, Kids Infobits was updated and received a new name –
Gale In Context: Elementary. Kid friendly resources with improved research tools and greater accessibility.
-
Testing & Education Reference Center has a
new resume creator and
career assessment tool.
-
TEL is no longer providing access to
Gale’s Literature Resource Center including Gale Literary Sources, Twayne's Authors Series and the Scribner Writer Series. Many of the journals included in the Literature Resource Center are available in Gale Academic OneFile.
-
Career Transitions will retire on September 30th. In replacement, Gale will be providing access to
Gale Presents: Peterson’s Career Prep. Additional information will be sent out in a follow up email.
Temporary Access – during the initial COVID school closures, many educational content providers opened their resources to help with virtual learning. As the new school year begins, some of the resources are no longer freely available.
-
In March, Tumblebooks extended its ebooks to all Tennesseans. That trial ends on August 31, 2020. TEL will not be providing access to Tumblebooks beyond August 31.
-
World Book temporarily opened up all their resources during school closures; access ended at the end of May 2020.
-
Gale provided temporary access to additional In Context databases and Mrs. Humblebee’s; access ended at the end of July 2020.
-
JSTOR has expanded its Register and Read Program, now expanded from 6 to 100 free articles to read online from now until December 31, 2020.
-
The Tennessee Department of Education released a free, optional supplement to support early literacy,
TN Foundational Skills Curriculum Supplement, which follows evidenced-based research to build a solid foundation for literacy in pre-K through second grade.
Thanks!
