Map the Count: a University and State Agency Collaborative Project

The Urban Data Visualization Lab (UDVL) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) has been working with the Illinois Department of Human Services in a collaboration to develop Map the Count, a reporting and mapping tool to support the State's Census outreach activities and ensure the most complete count possible in Illinois. The UDVL team has designed and implemented a web-based tool that enables Census 2020 Regional intermediaries to assess how their engagement activities could change the 2020 Census response rate. The presenters will be Moira Zellner, Director of the UDVL and an Associate Professor of Urban Policy and Planning, and Dean Massey, a Visiting Research Specialist at UIC’s Institute for Environmental Science and Policy. During this presentation, Zellner will also briefly share how the UDVL supports opportunities for students, faculty, and other UIC scholars to become involved with community projects.
