Good morning!

Sorry to start your day with an email about taxes but Tennesseans now have less than one month to file and pay their federal income taxes! Here are some resources that you can share with your community if people are unable to pick up forms in person. I’ve also included some links about the TN Business Relief Program – it will be administered by TN Department of Revenue.

Tax Forms & Assistance

The U.S. Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service have announced that the federal income tax filing due date is automatically extended from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020. Taxpayers can also defer federal income tax payments due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, without penalties and interest, regardless of the amount owed. This deferment applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers as well as those who pay self-employment tax.

Learn about the TN Business Relief Program

On June 2nd, Gov. Lee announced this program to reimburse small businesses for costs incurred as a result of mandatory closures.  Specific types of small businesses impacted by the crisis are eligible for a business relief payment through the Tennessee Business Relief Program.  Information for businesses that permanently closed can also be found at TN Department of Revenue.
