Good Morning Geographers and Sustainers,

I am offering to share some of what I've learned about career coaching through my MBA program to anyone interested in joining us. Any current geography student (graduate or undergraduate) or alum is welcome to join us. The sessions will be useful for those of you who are job hunting as well as those of you who already have a job. What we discuss should be relevant to those of you pursuing an academic career as well as those pursuing a career in private industry, government, or non-profits. You are also welcome to invite geography alum who may not have received the initial email invitation to join us. Faculty and staff are welcome to join us as well.

 

• The sessions will be a quasi-book club and support group with some homework assignments. We'll use our virtual sessions to discuss our readings, share our experiences, practice skills, offer feedback, and provide encouragement.
• You are welcome to attend as many or as few of the sessions as your schedule allows. However, you will receive the most benefit from joining all the sessions since we'll be tackling some topics in a specific order.
• Tentative Schedule: I'm thinking that we'll meet once a week during July. Each session will be an hour or less.
• Software/Hardware Requirements: We'll be using Zoom for the sessions so you'll need a device with a microphone and camera that can run that software and an internet connection.
• Communication: As a group we’ll choose which platform we want to use for asynchronous communication (for instance, LinkedIn, Google Groups, Slack, etc)
